Skincare tips for men
Great skincare for men doesn’t have to be wrought with expensive lotions and creams. Get the basics right though and you will have fewer breakouts, shaving will be easier, skin less irritated and inflamed with less ingrown hairs, and most importantly you can protect your skin and prevent premature aging.
So here’s our top five skincare tips for men, and if you or your other half would like more information call us on 018063200 or use our online booking form to book you free consultation and skin scanning.
1. Avoid Hot showers and use a good cleanser
Guilty of taking hot showers and using harsh soaps or face scrubs? Your skin will instantly become dry with this routine so try using a gentle cleanser that will remove the dirt and oil that can accumulate, and hydrate at the same time. Remember, if you don’t cleanse your skin on a daily basis; the excess grime and oil could also leave you with clogged pores and breakouts.
2.Prepare your skin for Shaving
Shave in the shower or immediately afterwords, as the facial hairs are much softer from the warm water and steam. Apply a light layer of foaming cleanser to keep the skin moist and warm and provide an extra barrier while shaving.
3.Soothe Skin post shave
The Ormedic Balancing Antioxidant serum is a soothing, post- shave hydrator. This product especially appeals to men because it’s lightweight and doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky or greasy. As men tend to have oily skin, it will also help to balance out their oil production. This serum has very little scent, and only 2-4 drops are needed for the entire face and neck.
4.Moisturise Daily Skin care for most men starts and stops with a basic bar of soap or cleanser. Combine that with dry skin after a hot shower or rough shave and your skin will be crying out for some moisture.
A moisturiser will help to replenish your skin’s moisture content and will help prevent razor burn. Choose a moisturiser that contains SPF to help protect you from exposure to the sun’s damaging rays. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to pre-mature aging, fine lines, wrinkles and worst of all, skin cancer.
Protect your skin daily with an IMAGE daily skin moisturiser formulated for your skin type. For example, if like most men you have oily skin, choose the daily matte moisturiser which contains microsponge technology to absorb surface oils and leaves skin with a matte, shine-free finish.
5.Exfoliate
Exfoliation removes the top layer of skin and unblocks your pores – for the uninitiated, this translates as fewer spots and ingrown hairs.
The total resurfacing masque can be used to help clear up blackheads, minimise the appearance of pores, dry up the occassional acne spot, and even lighten hyperpigmentation. If you shave in the morning use this product at night to prevent irritation and vice versa.
