Mesotherapy is a treatment designed to rejuvenate areas such as the face, neck, décolleté and hands, by delivering vitamins, minerals and amino acids directly into the skin to nourish and rejuvenate, promote production of collagen and elastin, and stimulate your metabolism.
As your skin ages, circulation decreases, and the resulting reduction of oxygen and nutrients hinders your body’s ability to flush out toxins. Cells lose water binding molecules and skin becomes dehydrated. These bring about premature aging and cause the skin to develop an ashen and crepey appearance.
Mesotherapy involves superficial micro-injections of hyaluronic acid into the mesoderm (middle layer of skin) directly into the area concerned. The injections only penetrate to a very shallow depth, approx.4-6mm using the smallest needle. The aim is to replace the hyaluronic acid that is lost as we age.
What are the benefits?
- Overall skin rehydration
- Increases the firmness and elasticity of the skin
- Improvement in the skin’s complexion and radiance
- Prevention of wrinkles and rejuvenates and revives dull, tired skin
- Improves tone and elasticity of sagging skin on the hands, décolleté &neck area
- Treats dry and sensitive skin
You may experience some superficial swelling after treatment, which will settle within 24-48 hours. Although rare, other possible side effects include the appearance of some small needle marks which will also resolve within a few days. Treatment around the eye area may take longer to settle – possibly 7-10 days.
After treatment, patients commonly describe their skin as looking rested, radiant, glowing and firmer. Mesotherapy can be used as a supplement, or an alternative, to many anti-aging regimens, including botox, laser resurfacing, peels, antioxidants, topical creams and facelifts.
How often do I need to have this treatment?
Typically, the initial treatment course recommended is 1- 3 sessions at 6 week intervals.
How long do the results typically last for?
This varies from client to client depending on the area being treated. If a course of 3 sessions are completed the effects should last from 12-18 months. Gradually over time the product and effects will fade.
Can I have mesotherapy at the same time as other anti-aging treatments?
It is advised to leave a two week gap between laser or radiofrequency treatments and mesotherapy.
